How to Deal with a Chaotic World

When events in the world feel out of control, it can be easy to get stuck in emotions and feelings of helplessness. Sometimes things feel more chaotic than others, but lately, there has been a lot going on in the world. A lot of people are struggling to stay focused and true to themselves and end up “doomscrolling” and just feeling miserable about what’s happening and not feeling like they can do anything about it.

It doesn’t have to be that way. With meditation, we can explore how to manage the ways we react to things that feel beyond our control and practice a technique to stay strong and grounded.

I’m a licensed mental health counselor who enjoys sharing mindful meditations and information about mindfulness. Below is a transcript of a meditation I led on this topic, and at the end of the article, you’ll find a link to the meditation video. Let’s get started.

Meditation Transcript

I’ll invite you to come into this moment in whatever way suits you. It’s okay to move. It’s okay to close your eyes or leave them open. But come into this moment into a posture that will allow you to be engaged with the meditation.
