How are you feeling?

I consider myself to be a little bit of a mindfulness evangelist. I feel like mindfulness meditation is such an important skill to have. One of the most basic mindfulness meditations is a body scan. With mindfulness meditation, we’re using our physical senses to be aware of what’s happening in the present moment, and the body is a great focus for our awareness and our attention. Noticing physical sensations with curiosity and openness, not needing to fix or change anything we observe.

Following a recent laughing meditation that I led, we decided it would be helpful to explore what our bodies felt like, so I led a brief body scan, starting with the head and moving down to the feet and toes.

I’m a licensed mental health counselor who enjoys sharing mindful meditations and information about mindfulness. Below is a transcript of a meditation I led on this topic, and at the end of the article, you’ll find a link to the meditation video. Give it a try and see what you notice.

I’ll invite you to settle in, find a posture that allows you to explore what’s happening in your body without falling asleep.

Close your eyes if that’s comfortable for you.
